The Principal Data Scientist will lead efforts to use scientific methods, algorithms and systems to extract insights and knowledge from structured and unstructured data. This role will involve close collaboration with various teams within the organization to ensure data-driven decision-making is utilized. The main responsibilities of the Principal Data Scientist role will be to lead data science projects from conception through deployment, develop and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms, analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

The Principal Data Scientist will informally lead and mentor more junior data scientists and analysts to ensure velocity, quality, and accuracy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and will be expected to stay advised on the latest advancements in data science and machine learning technologies.  The role will lead projects across our business practices and support a variety of roles within the business. They will attend, coordinate, and lead meetings as needed. Complete and track action items and deliverables.  Attention to detail, organization, communication, and self-initiative are key skills for this role.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in data science or a related field.

• Proficiency in programming/query languages such as Python or R and experience with data analysis tools like SQL, Excel, and Tableau.

• Working knowledge of data/software project management (e.g., Agile, CRISP-DM, Jira, etc.).

• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.

• Experience with analytical platforms (e.g., Dataiku, Alteryx, JMP, etc.).

• Experience with big data technologies such as Databricks, BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, or AWS.

• Demonstrated ability to design and implement solutions leveraging AI techniques such as Computer Vision, LLM’s, SML’s, NLP, Deep Learning, and others.

• Familiarity with various ML techniques (classification, clustering, time-series analysis, deep learning, etc.).

• Strong knowledge of data gathering, cleaning, and transforming techniques.

• Experience in data centers, renewable energy, energy generation, or electric charging infrastructure.

Travel: 0-10%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

• Leads and manages data science and AI projects from conception to deployment.

• Develops and implements advanced machine learning models and algorithms.

• Analyzes large datasets to extract meaningful insights and identify trends.

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translates them into data-driven solutions.

• Mentors and guides junior data scientists and analysts.

• Communicates findings and recommendations to stakeholders through reports and presentations.

• Stays updated with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning technologies.

• Identify and recommend professional development opportunities for team members.

• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
