Opportunity Overview
The Overlay Management team is comprised of licensed Portfolio Managers and Analysts who are experts at portfolio implementation, have deep understanding of trading and tax principles and know how to effectively balance achieving client requests for customization with delivery of high-quality model portfolio that remain aligned to their investment thesis. They will partner with the Portfolio Management team, Operations and Financial Advisors to bring Model Portfolios to life in a way that accommodates unique client requests for tax-optimization strategies and values-based investing. The team will execute on both Portfolio Manager and client instructions simultaneously and is solely responsible for scaling customization across Edward Jones UMA business while delivering performance that meets or exceeds expectations on behalf of clients. The Associate Portfolio Manager helps oversees trade execution and customization strategies across the UMA program. They are expected to take a hands on role in coaching team members and collaborating with internal partners to ensure scalable, high-quality portfolio implementation aligned with client objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Overlay Management Leader in overseeing daily trading and rebalancing activities, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory standards.
- Execute complex trade instructions and account-level customization requests, including tax optimization and investment restrictions, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Monitor client accounts and model portfolios to ensure consistency with investment objectives and constraints.
- Collaborate with sub-advisors, portfolio managers, and internal partners to ensure timely and accurate trade execution.
- Proactively identify refinement opportunities within the team's processes, procedures, and supervisory controls and propose/lead the implementation of changes to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to analysts and senior analysts, supporting their development and ensuring high-quality execution across the team.
- Respond to escalated Financial Advisor inquiries and provide clear, actionable guidance on trade rationale and overlay strategies.
- Contribute to business planning efforts and support the execution of strategic initiatives within the Overlay Management team.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and represent the team in meetings with operations, compliance, investment manager research, and other home office partners.

Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in related field; Masters preferred.
- Minimum 6-10 years of experience
- CSC and CPH
- CFA or enrollment in program
- Ability to be registered as Associate Portfolio Manager with CIRO within 3 months.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, trading principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of overlay management principles, portfolio trading processes, and investment customization strategies.
- Advanced technical knowledge of managed investment products (mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs) and their tax implications.
- Advanced knowledge of overlay management strategies including tax-loss harvesting, constraint implementation, and model portfolio alignment.
- Solid understanding of CIRO regulations and fiduciary standards relevant to trade execution and portfolio oversight.
- High proficiency in investment platforms and trading software (e.g., Wealth360, Envestnet).
- Strong knowledge of operational risk controls and compliance procedures within a managed account environment.
- Understanding of Edward Jones’ investment philosophy and how it applies to client-level customization and model implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to execute complex trades and solve non-routine problems with sound judgment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to support trade accuracy and process improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly with Financial Advisors and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Comfortable contributing to business planning and strategic initiatives that support team and department goals.
- Adaptability to evolving systems, processes, and regulatory requirements, with a proactive approach to learning and improvement.
