The Parrhesia Program for Public Thought & Discourse invites applications for part-time Lecturers to teach in its Minor for Science Communication & Public Discourse. Further information can be found on the Parrhesia Program’s website: https://parrhesia.uchicago.edu/scpd
The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities in the Minor for Science Communication of the Parrhesia Program for Public Thought & Discourse. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching seminar-style courses, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparation and grading of assignments, inclusive of providing written feedback on student work. Depending on the curricular needs of the Program, the successful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year 2025-26 will be at least $8,883. This position is not benefits eligible.
A Ph.D. in a humanistic or social sciences discipline is required and a minimum of one year of experience teaching at the university or four-year college level is required.
