About the Department
Position Duties
Assist with day-to-day activities in providing support to residents, nursing assistants, environmental services, dining, and life enrichment teams to provide high quality care. Shadow, observed, and assist assigned CNA during care times (ie: AM and HS Cares, NOCrounds) Provide second person assistance with mechanical lift transfers. Assist with serving meals and document meal intake. Make beds—leaving resident call lights easily accessible. Ensure rooms are tidy, stocked, and organized. Answer call lights, assist residents per scope of position and report to qualified team members if necessary. Transport residents (to and from meals, activities) per community/state regulations.
Effectively communicates with residents, their families, peers, and all RK team members. Promotes and provides person-centered care adhering to each individual care plan. Provides personal and basic nursing care including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toilet use, etc. Assist residents with nutritional and fluid needs. Basic understanding of acute illnesses and chronic disease processes, to report changes of condition to the unit nurse. Uses good body mechanics and provides for safe mobility and restorative care. In a timely manner, accurately document cares provided. Maintain supplies, restock, and notify the supervisor when running low. Answer resident call lights/alarms and take necessary action according to facility protocol. Maintains cleanliness of medical equipment and the facility, performing emergency cleaning as needed. Assist in providing orientation/training to newest nursing team members. Attend education programs offsite as well as facility provided in-services. Follow all facility Infection Control guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent experience preferred.
Basic level of computer proficiency required.
Understands and effectively carries out oral and written instructions.
Understands and promotes the concept of comprehensive individualized nursing care for a diversified population.
Ability to handle crisis intervention situations as directed by individualized care plan, facility protocol, resident rights, etc.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and crouching. The employee must frequently lift or move residents and equipment weighing over 50 pounds, therefore, sufficient endurance, strength, mobility, balance, flexibility, and coordination is required to perform care activities and emergency procedures.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Specific hearing abilities required by this job include, hearing conversation in noisy and quiet environments, locating a sound source and differentiating among non-speech sounds, and communicating through speech.
Risk of bloodborne pathogen exposure is considered high.
