The Assistant Director of Experiential, Service, and Global Learning plays a pivotal role in shaping a cohesive and transformative educational experience for students from Grades 2 through 12. Through innovative and impactful programming, this role supports the school’s mission to cultivate global citizens who are thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
The Assistant Director of Experiential, Service, and Global Learning leads programs that extend education beyond the traditional classroom, fostering leadership, cultural awareness, and global citizenship for all students across both primary and secondary divisions. This includes service-learning initiatives starting in Grade 4, student-led and academic clubs in the secondary division, as well as coordinating with the pedagogical team curricular domestic and international overnight trips beginning in Grade 2. The Assistant Director develops and implements opportunities for students to take leadership and initiative through specialized training, club engagement, and experiential and service-learning projects to foster personal growth and social responsibility. The Assistant Director collaborates with faculty, administrators, and external partners to create meaningful, mission-aligned experiences that inspire empathy, critical thinking, and a commitment to community engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student-Led Clubs
Develop and oversee a comprehensive program for student-led clubs across the secondary division.
Provide training and mentorship for student leaders, ensuring clubs align with educational goals and school values.
Serve as primary administrator of the club management platform and monitor club creation timelines, event scheduling, attendance, and engagement.
Maintain accurate records and generate attendance reports as needed for school leadership.
Serve as an advisor to the Student Council and the Secretary for Clubs and oversee their management of student-led clubs.
Continuously and strategically address clubs with low activity and engagement.
Assist with general administrative tasks, including scheduling, event coordination, and communication with students and parents.
Organize annual club fair(s) and leadership workshops to encourage student participation and development.
Academic Clubs and Enrichment Electives
Develop and oversee a structured program for academic (faculty-led) clubs across the secondary division, ensuring they serve as enrichment opportunities.
Support faculty advisors in designing and leading engaging, subject-focused clubs that enhance students’ academic interests and skills.
Facilitate collaboration between academic departments and club leaders to integrate meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.
Encourage interdisciplinary opportunities and connections between academic clubs and student-led initiatives.
Ensure clubs provide a challenging and inclusive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and academic growth.
Service-Learning and Community Service Program
Support the design, implement, and oversee the service-learning program for students beginning in Grade 4 (currently in Grade 6-7), ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and age-appropriate engagement.
Serve as primary administrator of the community service digital platform and, with the assistance of the community service coordinator, maintain accurate student service logs, verify completion of annual service requirements, and post regular community service opportunities.
Establish, grow, and maintain partnerships with local and global organizations to offer diverse service-learning opportunities that encourage civic responsibility and social impact.
Collaborate with faculty and student leaders to integrate service-learning into academic and extracurricular programs, reinforcing connections between coursework and real-world application.
Support students and faculty in planning and executing service-learning projects, including guiding reflection and assessment, and the development of long-term community relationships.
Facilitate training sessions for students and educators to enhance understanding and implementation of service-learning initiatives, ethical engagement, and sustainable impact.
Encourage a culture of service by recognizing and celebrating student contributions, fostering leadership in community initiatives, and providing pathways for continued involvement beyond school.
Support the Director of Global Engagement in reforming the community service program and implementing holistic approaches to engagement and service-learning through consideration of school-wide programs.
Overnight and Global Trips
Develop, maintain, and enforce school-wide policies and procedures for domestic and international overnight trips for students starting in Grade 2 through Grade 12, ensuring educational and safety standards are met and trips align with the school’s mission and values.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate trip objectives with academic and developmental goals.
Serve as a resource and advisor to faculty in the trip planning process.
Assist the Director in developing curriculum guidelines for trips that align with the school’s academic programs and mission.
For trips focused on service-learning, manage all aspects of trip logistics, including vendor selection, accommodations, safety protocols, itineraries, and communications with parents and staff.
Experiential Learning Program and Immersive Weeks
Support the design and implement a comprehensive experiential learning program for students in all grades, incorporating field trips, internships, and community engagement projects.
Explore and establish relationships with local and international organizations to create new opportunities for student growth.
Partner with faculty to integrate experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum, fostering hands-on and reflective experiences, including adaption of the school’s iQUEST pedagogical framework.
As part of these efforts, develop partnerships with NYC-based organizations to leverage “city-as-a-clasroom” experiences.
Collaborate with the Director of Global Engagement, Head of High School, Head of Middle School, and Director of La Passerelle to develop and launch a signature immersive/experiential education week program, to pilot in June 2026.
Collaboration and Oversight
Work closely with primary and secondary school faculty and administrators to ensure coherence and integration across divisions.
Manage program budgets and ensure financial oversight for all initiatives.
Start Date
While this position would ideally commence in January 2026, the start date is flexible given the preferred candidate’s commitments.
Work Schedule
12-month position with additional responsibilities during school breaks for overnight trips and global learning initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
5+ years experience in student leadership, service learning, global education, and/or experiential programming across diverse age groups.
Proven ability to organize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, including overnight and international trips.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across divisions and disciplines.
Multicultural competence and proficiency in French and English strongly preferred.
Annual Salary Range: $85,000-$110,000
