Evansville Surgery Services, LLC., is accepting applications for a Full-time Staff RN to work in our Pre-op/PACU at our Gateway & Midtown locations. Position is Monday-Friday, no holidays, weekends or call. Most benefits and PTO start on your first day of employment.
JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse provides therapeutic, effective, patient/family-centered care according to: the physician’s orders, policies and procedures, the organization’s mission, vision, and philosophy, as well as standards of nursing practice and regulations of governing agencies/organizations.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, supervising care delivered, coordinating the plan of care, providing education for patients, families and staff, and collaborating with other disciplines.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes specialized nursing knowledge, nursing process, and discriminative judgment while giving direct or indirect patient care.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical/psycho-social/cognitive/safety/related criteria appropriate to the age of the patient.
- Recognizes the legal and policy limits of individual practice/responsibility.
- Recognizes the importance of teamwork.
- Respects the patients’ right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Provides a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for the patient and family.
- Assesses the physical and emotional needs of patients, and implements appropriate nursing interventions.
- Monitors the activities of non-professional nursing personnel.
- Cognizant of health care costs; is cost-effective when utilizing medical supplies.
- Maintains accurate records of controlled substances.
- Completes annual mandatory inservices, as well as other inservices offered that are relevant to specific nursing department. Maintains confidential passwords for computer learning. Takes responsibility for completion of learning assignments on time.
- Participates on various committees as assigned.
- Participates in departmental meetings, orientation of new personnel, and inservice programs as assigned.
- Knowledgeable of, and in compliance with, administrative, medical, and nursing policies and procedures.
- Reports and completes appropriate forms for incident to patient, visitors, and employees.
- Reports needed repairs or maintenance of equipment and/or building to the appropriate persons.
- Responsible for organization and neatness of work area.
- Assists with housekeeping duties as necessary to provide a clean and safe environment.
- Receives and documents physician orders according to policies and procedures.
- Knowledgeable of Medical Staff privileges.
- Uses maximum care and caution when handling medical equipment.
- Responsible for conservation and control of supplies utilized.
- Knowledgeable and responsive to emergency situations, i.e. cardiac arrest, malignant hyperthermia, drug reaction, fire, etc.
- Keeps Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Director, and Facilities Administrator informed of problems/concerns with patients, family members, physicians, staff, etc.
- Checks medical supply and medication levels, and forwards purchasing information to the purchasing coordinator or pharmacy nurse.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited school or nursing. Two (2) years related experience preferred.
