JOB TITLE: Engineer Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
An Engineer Intern will deliver timely, innovative, and practical engineering support to both management and the operations team. The primary responsibilities include assisting the process engineer with daily tasks and projects. This role involves contributing to the development of a safe and efficient plant that supports operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators and operating statistics
- Assist with the creation of volume and quantity surveys on stockpiles and product storage warehouses
- Perform research and design projects focusing on improved efficiency or reduced cost per ton
- Participate in various portions of the engineering process, including, but not limited to: safety audits, the development and review of operating procedures, and equipment selection, research, and recommendation
- Assist the process engineer with daily production support and technical assistance for immediate process and product problems.
- Assist the process engineer with identifying and implementing process improvements leading to process loss reduction and process uptime improvements.
- Assist the process engineer with maintaining and developing process documentation.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Block Flow Diagrams (BFD) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD).
- Material and energy balances
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Drivers License
- High school diploma or GED
- Active pursuit of Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mine Engineering; one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Understanding of advanced surveying procedures
- Drafting experience is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing, walking, sitting (while driving) over 2/3 of work time, squatting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs. less than 1/3 of the time
- Must be able to perceive color differences
SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Monday - Friday, 8-hour workdays, Schedule subject to change.
- Occasionally work outdoors, in a non-temperature-controlled environment, and are subject to weather conditions.
- Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
- Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
