As Southeast Orthopedic Specialists continues to grow, we are hiring a Controller PRN for our Central Business Office located in Jacksonville, FL! Please see below for the functions and requirements needed to be considered for this position: 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Responsible for organizing and maintaining financial accounting systems, including accounts payable, general ledger, accounts
receivable, employee payroll, cash disbursements, financial statements, and tax information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and plans department objectives with the Vice President Finance and Facilities and staff including short and long range accounting programs in budgeting, profit analysis, accounting systems, and internal auditing.
  • Directs financial accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate reporting of clinic and department financial information.
  • Ensures the timely payment of current liabilities to creditors, proper recording and control of cash receipts, recording of fixed assets, development of adequate procedures, instructions, controls, records, and reports.
  • Works with the Vice President Finance and Facilities to develop and approve financial statements, including balance sheets,
    profit/loss statements, and analysis of variances in accounts, ratios, financial statistics income/expense, as well as
    investments analysis (i.e. effects of fee changes on costs and profits, return on investment).
  • Reviews all third-party contracts and monitors contract revenues. Interacts with auditors, lenders, and their third-party
    agencies regarding accounting functions.
  • Develops and monitors the internal audit program to ensure internal financial controls. Oversees the annual financial
    audit/review and any other special audits.
  • Directs the development and implementation of the annual operating and capital budget process.
  • Directs, forecasts, and analyzes the impact of special projects or new services and acquisitions; (i.e. proposed new locations,
    equipment purchases).
  • Assists the Vice President of Finance and Facilities in the development and preparation of major financial reports.
  • Attends meetings with management to review and discuss budgets and financial issues.
  • The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for this position.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting.
  • CPA preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five years of financial management experience. Experience in health care is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting functions including, budgeting, credit, investments, internal controls.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheets, and financial systems programs and applications.
  • Knowledge of management practices to lead staff.
  • Knowledge of clinic operations' strategic business objectives.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains and FRX reporting software.

SKILLS

  • Skill in analyzing financial data and preparing appropriate related reports.
  • Skill in relating organizational objectives to financial policies on costs, fees, credit, etc.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management, medical staff, auditors, and the
    public.

ABILITIES

  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff and work under multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work creatively with management and department staff to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment.
  • Some travel within the community.
  • Single or multi-site management.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
  • Some bending and stretching are required.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
