POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Graduate Engineer I at LJA Land Development, you will support hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) design efforts that are essential to our land development projects. You will collaborate with project managers and technical staff to develop drainage studies and modeling that shape communities while optimizing conservation and amenities.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Assisting in managing multiple H&H studies in support of land development projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic models for analysis.
  • Performing hydraulic calculations and providing direction to technical support or drafting staff.
  • Communicating effectively with project teams and internal clients to obtain data and updates.
  • Preparing drainage impact analyses and FEMA Letters of Map Change requests.
  • Collaborating with project managers to ensure designs meet quality standards and timelines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (required).
  • Certified Engineer-in-Training (recommended).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design.
  • Experience with FEMA Letters of Map Change and conveyance analysis.
  • Working knowledge of HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, and GIS.
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across disciplines.

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

  • Experience with advanced H&H modeling such as HEC-RAS Unsteady and/or 2D modeling.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • A desire to grow within a collaborative and employee-owned environment.
