What You’ll Do

  • Embody the characteristics that the school wishes the students to uphold, especially accountability, connect, growth-mindset, and perseverance 
  • Deliver prepared lessons in response to the primary teachers’ absence
  • Manage and care for a class of assigned advises
  • Provide engaging, motivating, and rigorous instruction in whole-class, small-group, and individual settings
  • Assist in student arrival and departure, transitions between class periods, and lunch periods
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Teach, support, and enhance school-wide systems and expectations at all times with all children
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom via straightening chairs, tables, clearing whiteboard, etc.
  • Ensure that the students are never left unattended in the classroom
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned, procedures for referring students with disciplinary problems, and all school procedures and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Compensation & Schedule 

  • Salaried/Exempt
  • Annual Salary: $50,500*
  • Full Time; Monday – Friday; Occasional evenings and weekends as needed

Qualifications


Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in education or ELA
  • At least 1 year of substitute or teaching experience 
  • Ability to successfully pass all required background screening
  • Committed to creating a rigorous, nurturing, and joyful education experience
  • Dedicated to educational equity and promote related/procedure-aligned practices
  • Demonstrate effective and consistent professionalism throughout all communication
  • Ability to demonstrate evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
  • Possess a growth mindset and experience using feedback as a way to improve practice


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience within an urban classroom utilizing structure, incentives, and high expectations to drive student success
  • Bilingual; Spanish and English

 

Essential Functions

  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting
  • Must be able to reach, stoop, kneel, push, and pull
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
  • Must be able to successfully abide by all policies and procedures of Atlas Schools
