Beginning in the Spring 2026 semester, this is an appointment through the 2026-27 academic year with the possibility of renewal based on performance and program needs. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in accounting and related business areas (24 credit hours per year). Courses may include, but are not limited to, Principles of Accounting, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Auditing, Taxation.
  • Use engaging, innovative, and experiential teaching methods aligned with the mission and learning objectives of the School of Business.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, professional preparation, and career development.
  • Support curriculum development, including the integration of current industry standards (e.g., CPA Evolution model, data analytics) and technology into the accounting program.
  • Participate in department, school, and university service, including committee work and contributions to assessment and accreditation activities.
  • Maintain professional engagement with the accounting community through continuing education, professional associations, or applied research.
  • May supervise student workers and/or student research conducted in the department. 
  • Performs other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Ph.D., DBA, or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in accounting).
  • Ability to teach a variety of accounting courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and experiential learning in higher education.
  • Online teaching certification or evidence of prior experience teaching online.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and collegial approach to academic work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CIA.
  • Experience in public accounting, auditing, taxation, or managerial accounting.
  • Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation processes (e.g., ACBSP, AACSB).
  • Ability to involve students in applied learning, research, or community-based projects.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Evidence of a strong commitment to student-centered active learning and student engagement activities
  • Willingness to participate in campus responsibilities and activities during the day, evenings, and/or weekends at both on-campus and off-campus locations.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and appreciation for a liberal arts education.
  • Commitment and a demonstrated record of academic excellence with professional and personal integrity.
  • Ability to relate to diverse cross-sections of individuals. 
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • A demonstrated work ethic that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, and builds consensus in a high-energy and high-task environment.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team. 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use arms, hands and fingers to operate and manipulate equipment generally found in an office setting. The employee may be frequently required to be mobile, communicate, and hear. The employee may occasionally be subject to a variety of outdoor environmental conditions including heat, cold, and precipitation. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Mental demands include occasional varied degrees of occasional stress while performing job duties. 


Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office setting, and educational facilities including laboratories, sports and entertainment venues, all of which may be indoor or outdoor. The noise level in the work environment will range from moderately quiet to occasionally loud.
