Drew University is seeking an Assistant Director of Teacher Education in the Education department. The Assistant Director will oversee all aspects of certification programs assessment, including managing departmental data collection and assessment development, and inservice teacher education, including developing external partnerships and directing the Drew Writing Project and Digital Literacies Collaborative.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee data collection needed for accreditation and continuous program improvement
Conceptualize and oversee programming for early alumni support and tracking
Collaborate with local districts and the Drew Writing Project and Digital Literacies Collaborative to offer professional development workshops
Oversee program initiatives and special projects of DrewTEACH
Participate in department meetings
Respond to inquiries related to inservice programming
Organize and supervise the on-site/virtual delivery of inservice activities associated with school and district partnerships
Coordinate training of inservice personnel (e.g., presenters, coordinators)
Arrange and oversee the completion of formal professional development service agreements and consultant payments
Oversee the Drew Writing Project and Digital Literacies Collaborative Co-Directors and Committee work
Ensure that National Writing Project reporting requirements are met
Attend relevant meetings held by the National Writing Project network, both in-person and virtually
Assume a particularly visible role in all continuity activities involving new Teacher Consultants and cultivate leadership for inservice programming
Assess Drew Writing Project site productivity and the allocation of resources
Facilitate and/or present workshops for DWP/DLC school partners and DrewTEACH
Document all DWP/DLC activity as it occurs
Teach one academic course per semester
Support the education department as needed
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate preferred
5 years of K-12 and/or postsecondary experience in a leadership role
Familiarity and comfort leading and collaborating with diverse populations of stakeholders
Experience presenting professional development workshops to educators
Facility with various technologies and ability to learn new technologies quickly
Experience organizing events and supervising others
Priority will be given to individuals who have experience leading a National Writing Project site
