The OF HVAC Mechanic I position services the hospital and related satellite facilities. This position performs routine, preventive and corrective maintenance requests associated with all of the equipment and systems within the facility.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6 am – 2:30 pm or 6:30 am – 3 pm (with a weekend and holiday rotation)
Operate, inspect, test and maintain facilities’ mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. Equipment is operated, inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory agencies. Record data as required on forms, logbooks, CMMS / HFAP TMS- Work database, etc.
Install new equipment in compliance with federal, state and local codes and regulations.
Investigate and resolve failures of mechanical equipment and systems. Record data as required on forms, logbook, TMS- Works etc. communicate with department management when equipment and systems are not functioning properly.
Make welding repairs and fabricate specialty items, using metal fabricating tools, oxy acetylene torches and welding machines.
Coordinate the activities of contractors servicing mechanical equipment. Provide general maintenance assistance when required.
Perform prescribed preventive maintenance service on heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment and components. Preventive maintenance service to include ice machines.
Install, maintain, and repair steam valves, steam traps, water heaters, condensate and circulating pumps.
Replace fuse, light bulbs, circuit breakers, electric switches, ballast and other electrical equipment.
Service and repair electrical appliances.
Conduct regular inspections of designated facilities and equipment.
Make repairs to general building facilities to include, but not limited to, general carpentry repairs, repairs to ceiling, wall and floor coverings, doors, windows and furniture. Perform minor paint and patchwork.
Advise department management of the general condition of facilities and equipment in assigned areas. Make recommendations for improvements and upgrades to facilities for master planning and budget preparation.
Successful completion of self-learning module(s) for age-specific patient populations(s) served within the assigned work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED required
Experience in one or more, but not limited to the following technical fields: Plumbing, Electrical, Electronics, Building trades, Refrigeration required
Related vocational or technical training preferred
Hospital maintenance experience preferred
