Role
KSL’s Leadership Elevation & Acceleration Program (“LEAP”) is an executive-in-training program. For this MBA Internship, we seek a driven, collaborative candidate interested in a summer experience and full-time role at an exciting KSL portfolio company.
MBA interns will gain insight into KSL’s investment approach as well as a portfolio company’s strategy, operations, and priorities. The candidate will work for a portfolio company executive and, based on performance, have an opportunity to earn a full-time offer on the portfolio company team. Portfolio company placement will consider both portfolio company opportunities and candidate preferences.
As a member of KSL’s LEAP, the candidate will receive ongoing education, including attending KSL’s annual portfolio company strategic planning summit and mentorship opportunities.
The internship is in-person and split between Denver, Colorado and the portfolio company headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the creation of long-range strategic plans
- Serve as a strategic partner to executives and KSL teams
- Align financial goals with business objectives and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making across the business, including financial, operational, and human initiatives
- Evaluate and execute upon growth opportunities (incl. M&A and capital expenditures)
- Provide ongoing insights into KPIs and variance between actual results and forecasts to inform decision-making; identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor results and drive performance
- Understand company and industry data and trends to anticipate obstacles and identify opportunities to grow and improve the business
- Produce Board-level materials
Desired Skills and Experience:
- First-year MBA tenure, with meaningful post-undergraduate work experience in a fast-paced, strategic, and analytical role, akin to investment banking/consulting
- Passion for assuming an executive leadership role at a travel and leisure business backed by KSL Capital Partners
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong, hypothesis-driven problem-solving and analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative
- Structured, strategic thinker with excellent communication skills
- Ownership and accountability over high-quality work-product
- Inquisitive nature, attention to detail, and a positive, can-do attitude
- Action-orientation and knack for working well with others
