Job Description
Position Summary:
The primary role of the Financial Control Accountant is to maintain subsidiary ledgers and account for transactional fees for our futures commission merchant business. Areas of responsibility includes broker commission payouts, and other variable and fixed direct trading costs. This role supports profitability analysis and reporting including return on capital metrics. The Financial Control Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager to maximize development, learning and departmental efficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accounting and settlement of broker payouts and other transactional expenses
- Support development of new commission payout processing system
- Calculate monthly payouts using existing Access Database or new commission payout system
- Maintain database of exchange, clearing, and NFA fees under the direction of the Accounting Manager
- Prepare monthly transactional expense accrual accounting entry and related entries and reconciliations
- Other general accounting tasks
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong analytical abilities, initiative and problem solving skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- 1-3 years experience in Finance Services as an accountant or analyst a plus
- Experience in the futures industry a plus
- Ability to meet deadlines
