Field and Grounds Technician na BALL HORTICULTURAL COMPANY

Description

In this role you will help color the world and bring excitement in the world of flowers and vegetables through supporting the breeding and product development staff in producing quality plant material for breeding and research trials while ensuring field and grounds operations are running in a safe and efficient manner. This position assists in growing trials and outdoor marketing trials/landscapes. The Field and Grounds Technician will also be an important piece of indoor operations at certain times of year.  

Responsibilities and Duties:  

• Assists and executes various aspects of field growing, including, but not limited to field preparation, irrigation setup, fertilizing, spraying and weed control, and field equipment maintenance to deliver on company goals.  
• Assist in the leading of seasonal labor crews to ensure quality and efficiency standards are being met.  
• Communicate progress on tasks and provide information on potential future concerns. 
• Develop relationships across the site to provide support and input on site projects. 
• Oversee the landscape maintenance for the facility. 
• Execute projects throughout the site under the direction of the Field and Grounds Supervisor and other site supervisors. 

Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED is required.

· Field equipment (tractors, tillage implements, sprayers, etc.) experience preferred.

· Must possess or have ability to obtain Illinois Pesticide Handlers Permit within 3 months of employment.

· Ability to learn and execute routine equipment maintenance required.

· Previous supervisory experience preferred.

· Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.· Displays a can-do attitude.

· Partners with others to get work done.

· Comes up with useful ideas that are new, better, and/or unique

Physical Requirements

·Ability to lift/carry up to 60 pounds 25% of the day

·Ability to push/pull up to 60 pounds 25% of the day

·Ability to sit/stand 100% of the day

·Ability to kneel/bend 25% of the day

·Ability to reach 15% of the day

·Ability to climb/balance 5% of the day

·Ability to use hands/fingers 50% of the day

·Ability to work in hot and humid environmental conditions outside/in greenhouses 85% of the day

Pay Range: $18-$20 per hour
