About the Role
United Systems is seeking a Network Engineer II to join our Network Team. This role is responsible for completing client network projects and resolving escalated managed service network issues. The Network Engineer II installs and configures network hardware, performs capacity planning, and provides post-installation support to ensure performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Document all activities, projects, and tickets daily in the ticketing system.
- Handoff and document in-progress tickets before the end of each shift.
- Create or update IT Glue documentation with new customer findings.
- Perform network capacity analysis and planning.
- Install and configure network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless) following established standards.
- Provide network support for client infrastructure and act as escalation point for junior technical staff.
- Build client rapport during onsite assignments (in-person troubleshooting, walkthroughs, client interaction).
- Travel up to 25–50% for client evaluations and projects.
Expectations
- Maintain established ticket SLAs as defined by manager.
- Maintain customer satisfaction (CSAT) scores as defined by manager.
- Follow established change approval processes.
- Submit weekly timesheets by end of shift Friday.
- Maintain established project timelines.
- Verify and submit documentation updates post-project.
- Ensure all time and expense entries comply with company policy.
- Document all notes, meeting minutes, and customer communications in ConnectWise PSA and IT Glue.
Technical Proficiencies
- Ticketing software: Incident management, time tracking, and task allocation.
- Network troubleshooting: DHCP/DNS configuration, diagnosing circuit or ISP issues, and using command-line tools.
- Wireless and switching technologies: Configuration and maintenance to ensure connectivity and performance.
- Firewalls: Configuration and troubleshooting for secure network environments.
- Documentation tools: IT Glue.
- Communication tools: Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Software: As assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to handle equipment, talk, hear, read, write, and interpret documents.
- Occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations).
