Position Description Summary/Purpose:

University of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for the position of Admissions Officer. This position recruits prospective students, facilitates admission requirements and provides support and guidance to prospective students throughout the enrollment process. This position will be located in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  

 

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates all enrollment activities for students pursuing graduate enrollment into the University with special attention to inquiries and applicants
  • Assesses student need, and presents information as to why and how University of Bridgeport may benefit a student’s personal, academic and professional goals.
  • Acts as liaison with cooperating departments while offering extensive student service and support. 
  • Provides appropriate follow up and follow through with prospective students via phone, email, text, and in-person outreach
  • Collects all necessary documents and paperwork toward enrollment including applications, transcripts, and other records.
  • Liaise with faculty regarding applicant information; acts as a student advocate and communicates effectively and clearly with University stakeholders
  • Coordinates, schedules, and hosts prospective student webinars
  • Strong command of program curriculum, costs, financial aid, career outcomes, full- and part-time options
  • Participates in Graduate open houses, accepted student days, local travel, as well as in-person and virtual recruitment events
  • Assists students with reviewing their bills and submitting and accepting their financial aid awards
  • Connects students with their advisors for registration
  • Develops relationships with UBs corporate partners
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 6 months of experience in admissions in a post-secondary educational environment or sales and customer service experience.
