Description -

This role is responsible for utilizing a blend of technical prowess and business acumen to define a forward-looking vision and strategy for research and development. The role involves crafting technology roadmaps, bridging gaps, and communicating strategic direction to stakeholders. The role leverages expertise in research and innovation to offer valuable input for new product development and research projects. The role fosters external collaborations aligned with the research roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Leverages recognized technical and business expertise to define long-term vision and strategy for research and development, across multiple areas and divisional boundaries.

  • Develops technology roadmaps for research engineering and technology development for the organization; identifies gaps and solutions for future growth.

  • Communicates strategy and technology roadmaps to executive staff and key industry partners and customers.

  • Provides consultation, design input, and feedback for research and new product development across the organizations.

  • Provides innovative solutions and integrates advanced technologies, with a significant impact across disciplines, championing large projects for long-range goals.

  • Represents the organization as a recognized technology and research expert at key industry and scientific conferences and meetings.

  • Prepares and delivers literature and presentations for publication and peer review; creates patent applications and supporting documentation.

  • Evaluates and develops external relationships for technologies and innovations for alignment with research roadmap and potential business value; creates strategic plan for integration and update into research and product architecture.

  • Provides mentoring and guidance to less-experienced staff members to set an example of research, innovation and excellence.

  • Participates in and provides input on process for selection of future technical leaders.


Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

  • Typically has 12+ years of work experience, preferably in investigation, design and development of research projects, or a related field.

The pay range for this role is $174,000 - $250,000 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
