Position Purpose |
To provide reliable and safe Resident transportation to and from appointments. |
Required Qualifications
- Company drivers must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Current valid state issued driver’s license.
- Maintain acceptable driving record
- Be able to lift 50 pounds.
- CPR and First Aid Certified (or willing to attain upon hire)
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal and customer services skills
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Transport residents in a safe and timely manner to/from the appointments.
- Provide residents with friendly, compassionate, reliable transportation services
- Drive a large van in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner.
- Gather and assist residents into wheelchairs or stretchers, in and out of the van, and other areas needed.
- Daily cleaning and regular maintenance of vehicles
- Coordinate schedules and appointments with the in-office Transportation team
- Daily safety checks of the vehicle – ie: lights, brakes, tires, wheelchair lift, seatbelts, etc.
- Secure all necessary paperwork for appointments and deliver it to appropriate people.
Additional Assigned Tasks
- Assist Nursing Staff as needed for transportation or transportation related activities.
- Treats all residents with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents’ rights.
- Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures and complete all assigned training and education upon hire and routinely throughout employment.
- Comply with standards of business conduct and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
- Always follow appropriate safety and hygiene measures to protect residents and themselves.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
- Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to HR or compliance officer.
- Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor/Administrator/Abuse Coordinator. Protects residents from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
- Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
- Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and training.
- Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
- As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency.
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Meets general health requirements according to policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
- The ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
- May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, and/or odors throughout the day; encounter reactions from dust, tobacco smoke, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
- Maintain a positive attitude and possess the ability to work in stressful situations.
- Ability to be organized and efficient.
- Basic computer skills.
- CPR licensed and trained in first aid.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis.
