SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Manager to lead and manage all aspects of occupational health and safety at our food manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with safety regulations, minimizing risk, promoting a safety-first culture, and protecting our employees and visitors. The Safety Manager will develop, implement, and monitor safety systems, procedures, and policies to maintain a safe working environment while ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive workplace safety programs tailored to a food manufacturing environment.

· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, GFSI).

· Lead risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential workplace hazards.

· Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations, and report findings with corrective action plans.

· Maintain and enforce emergency response plans, safety data sheets (SDS), and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols.

· Deliver engaging safety training and education for employees across all shifts and roles (e.g., PPE use, chemical safety, machinery safety).

· Manage safety reporting systems, including tracking leading and lagging indicators, injury logs, and near-miss reporting.

· Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for workplace incidents.

· Partner with HR, QA, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure a holistic approach to safety and compliance.

· Oversee compliance with food safety practices where they intersect with occupational health and safety protocols.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and third-party safety audits.

· Stay up to date on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and safety technologies.

· Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety compliance (e.g., GMPs, HACCP), and industrial hygiene.

· Proven experience conducting audits, training, and leading safety committees or initiatives.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management systems/software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Professional certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST, CSHO, or equivalent).

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

· Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement programs.

· Familiarity with ISO 45001 or other international safety standards.
