Summary:The Senior Manager of Logistics & Warehousing is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and optimization of all logistics and warehouse operations in the aerospace and defense industry. This role ensures efficient movement, storage, and distribution of goods while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, government contracting requirements, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement logistics and warehousing strategies aligned with company goals.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives across procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure alignment.
Operations Management
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, inventory control, order fulfillment, and transportation.
- Ensure readiness for compliance audits (internal and external).
- Manage hazardous material handling and certifications to meet regulatory requirements.
Risk Management & Business Continuity
- Develop and execute supply chain risk management strategies to ensure resiliency.
- Lead contingency planning and crisis response efforts to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
Team Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor warehouse and logistics teams to ensure high performance and engagement.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and support diversity-focused programs (ERGs/BRGs).
Vendor & Government Relations
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and suppliers; negotiate contracts and service levels.
- Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR export controls and government procurement regulations (DCMA, DCAA).
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce costs and cycle times while improving quality and service levels.
Financial & Executive Communication
- Deliver regular financial and operational performance briefings to executive leadership.
- Lead cost-reduction strategies, forecast budgets, and track ROI from logistics initiatives.
Technology Integration & Analytics
- Leverage warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and aerospace-specific Inventory Management Systems (IMS).
- Utilize business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) to drive data-driven decision-making.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
- Develop audit readiness programs and oversee compliance audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (required).
- 8+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations management (aerospace/defense preferred).
- Minimum 6 years of people leadership experience in high-complexity environments.
- Experience in government contracting environments with DoD program execution.
- Demonstrated success in Lean Six Sigma/continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Engineering (preferred).
- Professional certifications: APICS CSCP/CPIM, PMP, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
- Hazardous Materials Management certification.
- FAA or aerospace-related certifications (desirable).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
- Pay Range: $143,828 - $183,220 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
