Responsibilities:The Senior Software Engineer a skilled Guidewire GOSU Software Developer with expertise in Policy Center. The engineer in this role will be a member of a cross-functional team that develops, enhances and maintains systems that support processes for operating units in the E&S insurance segment. The Senior Software Engineer also collaborates with developers, business analysts, QA Testers, and stakeholders across multiple teams to continuously evolve the technical platform and to evaluate new tools and design patterns that could enhance the capabilities of W.R. Berkley business systems.
- Work closely with product owners, senior engineers, designers, programmers, and QA to deliver industry-leading solutions.
- Effectively contribute to the implementation of features and components from requirements and designs.
- Effectively contribute to task estimation, implementation, automated testing, debugging, and deployment.
- Stays up to date with the ongoing effort to improve software design and coding best practices.
- Work closely with QA and other organizations in the company to learn and evaluate feature requirements and functionality.
- Participate as a productive member of an agile team of developers.
- Communicate well with product owners, customer support, and other team members.
- Contribute to resolution of application support issues and perform development research into any issues that require programming changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience and training.
- Solid critical thinking, problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Team player with great interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated.
- 1+ years of experience in Guidewire Policy Center development using GOSU.
- Strong programming skills in GOSU or Java.
- Experience with Guidewire Studio and Configuration.
- Knowledge of (SCRUM or SAFe) Agile software development practices and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of XML, XSLT, XSD
- Guidewire Policy Center certification is a plus.
- Automated testing experience (Katalon Selenium, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Insurance industry experience is a plus.
