ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the laundry plant, including washing, drying, folding, and distribution processes. Performs direct exchange of soiled linens for clean linens.
- Responsible for inventory and quality control, ensuring delivery of soiled goods to the assigned laundry facility and return of clean goods
- Supervises, trains, and supports a team of laundry workers, including individuals with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities.
- Assigns tasks based on individual strengths and capabilities, ensuring equitable workload distribution.
- Works closely with management and senior leaders to ensure successful operations and communicates vital information in a timely manner.
- Prepares daily reports, inventory, schedules, and other pertinent documentation.
- Assists with online linen management programs, scheduling, and supply orders.
- Complies with all safety procedures and requirements and attends training sessions accordingly.
- Ability to work weekends and 1st and 2nd shifts as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Local travel between laundry facilities in Portsmouth and Norfolk may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE:
The following qualifications represent the training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully:
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, follow instructions, and perform at 80% or higher productivity.
- Capable of using equipment for processing laundry.
- Capable of using Microsoft Office/365 and other basic computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of efficient production, effective quality control, and workplace safety practices.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical demands: Performing the duties of this job requires near visual acuity, the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds, and gross manipulation. Additionally, the employee:
- Must be free of tuberculosis in a communicable form
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds and withstand prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to perform tasks that require a full range of motion, including, but not limited to, crouching, stooping, or reaching at/below shoulder level and overhead
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in an industrial setting and may be exposed to dust/lint. Must be able to withstand extreme fluctuations of temperature and noise level. The work schedule includes some weekends and most holidays.
