Position Summary: The General Manager of the Residence Inn by Marriott Jacksonville Butler Boulevard, a select-service, extended-stay hotel, will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, team leadership, and financial performance. Located in Jacksonville’s Deerwood Park area, this 120-suite property caters to both business and leisure travelers with spacious accommodations featuring full kitchens and modern amenities. We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven General Manager who truly understands the nuances of select-service hotel operations—from staffing and scheduling to guest engagement and cost control.
The ideal candidate will bring at least three (3) years of "Select Service" branded hotel management experience, along with strong financial acumen, operational expertise, and a passion for delivering service excellence in alignment with Marriott standards. This leader will be deeply involved in the day-to-day functions of the property, leading by example and fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and operational efficiency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter.
- Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, maintaining positive guest relations at all times.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction in each interaction.
- Coordinate special programs, functions and incentives to improve guest service.
- Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow associates.
- Effectively lead the Executive Committee to reach the goals of the property.
- Develop and assure achievement of hotel revenues and profits, utilizing forecasting, P&L management, RevPAR.
- Ensure the property is compliant in all departments, growing the business year over year.
- Ensure product quality is of a level to allow future bookings of room nights, banquet sales and food & beverage to achieve increasing pricing goals as warranted to maximize revenue.
- Coach and develop leaders to exceed performance expectations.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hotel leadership experience, including at least 1 year as a General Manager of a select-service hotel
- Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management or related business field preferred.
- Experience in Rooms and/or Food & Beverage functions
- Strong business communication skills verbal and written
- Strong presentation skills and ability to lead team at leadership and hourly level
- Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
- High work ethic and self-initiative
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Some travel may be required
- Regular attendance according to established guidelines
- Proven record of commitment and professionalism in meeting the challenges and pressures of a 24-hour, 7-day a week operation
- Professional image as perceived by subordinates, peers, superiors, guests and community
- Must possess basic computational ability
- Focus and maintain attention to tasks, and complete work assignments on time despite frequent interruptions
- Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times
- Maintain calm and professional demeanor in sometimes high pressure situations
- Ability to converse calmly with upset associates, superiors and guests in intense emotional situations
- Ability to participate in and lead departmental and/or hotel team meeting
Preferred Qualifications
- Hotel Experience: At least three (3) years of "Select Service" branded hotel management experience, ideally Marriott
- General Manager Experience: At least 1 year as a General Manager of a select-service hotel
- Operational Expertise: Deep understanding of select-service hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, and food & beverage.
- Hands-On Management Style: Willingness to be actively involved in daily operations and lead by example.
- Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and drive profitability through effective P&L oversight.
- Leadership & Team Development: Strong leadership skills with experience recruiting, training, and motivating high-performing teams.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with guests, staff, vendors, and ownership.
- Brand Compliance: Familiarity with Marriott brand standards and ability to ensure consistent execution across all departments.
