(Internal) Commercial Electrician Apprentice (Solar) na Positive Energy Solar

Position Overview

As a leading solar energy company in New Mexico, Positive Energy Solar integrates solar electric systems for businesses, homeowners, and institutions across the state. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn and work toward earning your Commercial Electrical Journeyman License EE98J. This role requires travel and attending apprenticeship classes at ABC, which will be paid for by the company.

Job Responsibilities

• On-site installation of solar PV system from design documents
• Travel and overnight stays
• Attending Apprenticeship classes
• Participate in training and meetings
• Ensure Electrical systems meet company standards, the National Electrical Code and other local codes.
• Work with a high level of quality and integrity.
• Ensuring adequate inventory for truck
• Pre-assemble job components in the warehouse.
• Layout and assembly of solar modules, array and mounting hardware
• Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment
• Electrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)
• Is punctual to all meetings and job sites
• Follow safe work practices
• Clean-up of job site
• Safely and legally operate a personal vehicle and Positive Energy Solar vehicles.

Skills/Qualifications

• Experience with the safe use of hand-held and power tools
• Previous experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry preferred 
• Computer skills
• Willing to take direction 
• Experience working effectively as a team member
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to work with a high level of quality and integrity
• All candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and motor vehicle records check
• Must have reliable transportation to job sites
• Must have a basic set of tools including some power tools, drill, impact, etc. 

Desired Attributes

• Prior experience with PV installations; NABCEP certification a plus
• Understanding and experience with AC and DC electrical wiring; 
• Journeyman Electrician license is a big plus!
• Associates Degree preferred

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the position as assessed by a qualified medical professional.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, snow, crawl spaces, etc.
• Not afraid of heights, able to climb on roof tops.
• Ability to work in squatting, standing, twisted, and stretched positions
• Lift, bend, squat and carry up to 60 pounds of tools and or equipment on a regular basis
• Climbing up and down ladders with tools
• Walking on uneven ground
