The Hanover Theatre Conservatory is currently seeking an experienced Theater Instructor to work with children aged Kindergarten through 4th grade from January through May. They must possess a deep understanding of creative classroom management and create a safe, supportive and structured classroom environment. Must be able to create and execute lesson plans based on a curriculum outline. Must be passionate about the performing arts and child development. 

All classes are scheduled after 4pm. Exact class schedule to be determined with potential candidates. There are no classes the weeks of February or April school vacation. Other teaching opportunities during the day with our STEAM Workshops may be available. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides each student with an evaluation at the end of the semester (either verbal or written).
  • Follows general curriculum outlined for each class 
  • Attends professional development sessions and staff meetings as required
  • Carries out administrative responsibilities (taking attendance, completing organization-wide trainings)
  • Participates in pre-planning and post-planning meetings as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be willing and available to work on-site in Worcester, MA. 
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights and weekends.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in theater and performance.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated practice of effective classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Effective prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • Collaborative decision-making skills in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented with ability to effectively multitask.
  • Must have reliable transportation. 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Theater Performance, Theater Arts or related field, Master’s Preferred.
