 About the Role:

The Cost Accountant role is a full-time position based in our manufacturing plant in Lincolnton, NC, reporting directly to the Controller. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making in a dynamic organization. 

Are you an experienced Cost Accountant with strong Manufacturing Industry experience? Are you looking to hold a key role in an accounting department working with the Cost Accounting Manager and CFO? Has your accounting background provided you with the experience to collect, analyze and extract information to improve the profitability of a business? In this role you will track cost from raw material to finished product, providing analysis for both inventory and labor, assisting the Controller to streamline our cost and improve profitability. In This Role, You Will: 

· Collect and analyze data on production costs, including raw materials, labor and overhead expenses.

· Prepare detailed cost reports, variance analyses, and profitability assessments for management review.

· Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, standards, and procedures to ensure accurate inventory valuations and cost allocation.

· Conduct regular audits of inventory and work-in-progress to verify accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).

· Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements.

· Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning by providing cost projections and scenario analyses.

· Monitor and reconcile cost accounts, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.

· Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals, related to costs.

· Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses for senior management on cost trends, product margins, and efficiency metrics.

· Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Requirements

In the Role You Will Need:

· Ability to work onsite at our Lincolnton, NC Manufacturing Facility.

· Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is preferred.

· Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or similar industry environment.

· Proficiency in Epicor (preferred) or other similar ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros)

· Knowledge of cost accounting principles, standard costing, activity-based costing, and variance analysis.

· Excellent communication skills to present complex data to non-financial stakeholders.

· Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

· Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.

· Must be able to handle confidential information with integrity.
