The Position:
Early-Career Coaches aim to support, grow, and retain highly effective early-career educators. Edmond Public Schools is developing an early-career support program, so the responsibilities of the Early-Career Coaches will vary and evolve over time based on program needs and educator ratios. The expertise and emphasis of the Early-Career Coaches will be on supporting foundational educator practices: classroom design, routines and procedures, classroom management, lesson planning, time management, and interpersonal relations with colleagues and families. Most of the Early-Career Coach’s time will be spent on one-on-one instructional coaching and/or practical strategy implementation cycles. Coaches will also monitor certification progress by tracking and encouraging toward their next steps for certification, when applicable. Other focus areas educators may include but are not limited to: designing memorable moments, resource development, mid-year-hire supports, coordinating peer-observation opportunities, and building support groups during EPS Smart Start.
Early-Career Coaches will be successful if the educators they partner with increase in effectiveness, as evidenced by measurable educator and student growth. This position will be essential in assisting non-traditionally certified teachers to move toward certification and remain in the classroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Early-Career Coaches will:
Participate in instructional coaching and adult-learning training for continual improvement of their own professional practice.
Collaborate with content specialists, ed-teach specialists, school-based mentors, and administrators as part of a strong support team for early-career educators.
Collaborate as part of a team with the other Early-Career Coaches.
Build expertise on certification pathways.
Track and encourage progress toward certification for non-traditionally-certified educators.
Build trust and relationship-centered learning-partnerships with early-career educators.
Facilitate individualized coaching cycles and/or collective strategy-implementation cycles.
Maintain organized documentation of coaching and support provided.
Budget time well and maintain a strategic schedule that maximizes the quantity and quality of supports offered.
Intentionally support mid-year hires during their initial weeks.
Coordinate and lead peer-observation opportunities.
Curate and develop reusable, branded resources for the early-career support program.
Create both individualized and systematized memorable moments for new hires and early-career educators, such as communications, gifts, events, connections, etc.
Other duties may be assigned.

basic brain states and how stress and emotion can impact learning
learning-science, such as effective study habits or how to make learning memorable.
stages of child development, thus able to serve multiple grades/ages
has 5+ years of Prek-5th teaching experience, early childhood certification [preferred]
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Have experience and expertise with:
Google Suite, specifically Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, and Email
Canvas LMS experience preferred though not required
