Location: This internship offers a potential hybrid work arrangement, with approximately 50% at our corporate office in West Des Moines, IA.
Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during the summer.
Duration: January 2026 – September 2026, with potential for extension.
JOB SUMMARY: The Training & Development Intern will support the Training & Development function of the HR department with a focus on event management and logistics coordination related to training programs and events. This role combines event management and planning responsibilities with exposure to instructional design and learning technologies. The intern will gain hands-on experience in organizing logistics for in-person and virtual training events, while applying skills learned through coursework in a professional setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
Assist with planning and coordinating training events, including scheduling, venue setup, catering, and participant communication.
Support logistics for virtual and in-person workshops, webinars, and team development activities.
Create, capture, and edit multimedia (digital imagery, video, and audio) for online training modules.
Develop customized learning email campaigns using LinkedIn Learning content and SharePoint.
Collaborate with the Training & Development team on innovative ways to maximize training effectiveness.
Update project management tools to reflect event and project progress.
Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Junior or Senior-level college student in good academic standing, or recent college graduate
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Career interest in Training & Development, event management, or in the environmental services or vegetation management industries
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing event logistics
Ability to work with a team of cross-functional experts in multiple locations
A collaborative, motivated attitude
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products utilizing the latest operating sysem
Excellent customer service skills focusing on rapport-building, listening, questioning, and patience
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints
Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical activities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions. The position also often involves sedentary work where sitting is required most of the time, with occasional standing or walking. The position also requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to perform activities with close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen and reading print material. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find a resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with employees which may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.
