Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Nursing Professional Development Generalist (Educator) for the Medical Oncology and Infusion Center. This a Full time, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. The schedule is 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday (36 hours a week). No nights or weekends.
The Oncology Nurse Educator at Sentara Martha Jefferson Cancer Center, A Nurse Professional Development Generalist is responsible for supporting the ongoing education and professional development of nursing staff. This role involves assessing the educational needs of nursing teams, designing and implementing training programs, and ensuring that nurses maintain competencies aligned with the latest clinical standards and regulations. The Nurse Professional Development Generalist collaborates with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes, promotes evidence-based practice, and enhances the overall quality of care.
OCN certified nurses in both the Infusion Center and Medical oncology clinic.
Infusion center has 25 chairs
14,000 provider visits per year
17,000 infusion visits per year- both oncology and non-oncology
Education
BSN Required
MSN Preferred
Certification/Licensure
Specialty certification required within one year of eligibility required- OCN or other Oncology Certification.
Registered Nurse Licensure
ONC certified RN preferred
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Experience
2 years of Acute Care nursing experience required
1 year of navigator or education experience preferred
Oncology Nursing experience preferred
Chemotherapy and Biologic infusion experience preferred
