Typically 5:30 AM–3:30 PM, with occasional weekend coverage (Sun–Thurs or Tues–Sat rotation)
About the Opportunity
An established industrial production facility specializing in high-volume textile and uniform services is seeking a hands-on Assistant Plant Manager to join its leadership team. This role supports a 100+ year-old, fast-growing organization recognized for innovation, quality, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a driven, organized leader with a proven background in plant operations and team development within a high-throughput production or service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production activities, ensuring output, quality, and customer delivery standards are consistently met.
- Supervise multiple Production Supervisors and department leads across shifts to maintain workflow efficiency and accountability.
- Monitor and report on production metrics, performance, and any operational issues impacting output or service.
- Lead workforce planning, including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management for production teams.
- Coach and mentor supervisors and team members to build internal talent and prepare staff for promotion opportunities.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, labor laws, and company policies), ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, logistics, and customer service teams to resolve operational challenges quickly.
- Manage labor costs and production budgets, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external clients to uphold service quality and resolve any escalated issues.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through proactive problem-solving, workflow optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or 1+ year of managerial experience in a high-volume plant or production environment.
- At least 2 years of customer service or client-facing experience handling service-related demands.
- Proven understanding of production workflow, scheduling, and team coordination.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer literacy for reporting and communication.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with safety compliance, OSHA standards, and workplace regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
