Our Allen, Texas office is experiencing exciting growth and is ready for the next chapter. We are extending the regional impact of our existing Civil Site Design services by growing our Civil team in our Allen, Texas office. We are seeking a licensed Civil Engineer to help grow and lead the team. The ideal candidate should have broad commercial and public facility site design experience, an entrepreneurial mindset, and existing relationships with local architects or landscape architects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, fosters, and maintains client relationships. Pursues repeat or follow-up work with current clients. Collaborates with Department, Marketing, and Business Development staff to respond to new business opportunities, including engaging in the preparation of proposals, interviews, and presentations.
- Performs limited personnel functions, including performance management feedback, mentoring, employee development, and reinforcing a positive work environment. Plans and schedules work for team members, ensuring the appropriate and effective distribution of assignments, labor, and equipment for efficient performance of duties. Reviews and approves timesheets and time off requests for accuracy and completeness.
- Spends at least 50% of time serving projects through project management and/or design tasks.
- Works autonomously on various projects, particularly those with high complexity and/or risk. May oversee entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish non-routine tasks. Responsible for successfully completing projects, including schedule, budget, and profitability.
- Develops estimating, pricing, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
- Develops feasible engineering design alternatives to meet project requirements.
- Utilizes computer software to create detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts, including land development site plans, water and sewer lines, hydrology/hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS & HEC-HMS), including but not limited to plan and profile views, cross sections, details, and schedules.
- Prepares or directs preparation of design computations and quantity estimates.
- Prepares or directs preparation of reports, studies, specifications, and permitting for projects.
- Reviews and redlines production plans for revisions.
- Participates in and ensures QC/QA procedures are followed. Maintains accurate design standards and procedures in assigned work.
- Responsible for work-in-progress, ensures accurate client billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on assigned projects.
- Adheres to corporate policies and procedures, Practice and Department procedures, and ensures consistent application and team member compliance.
- Cooperates and coordinates with other engineers, designers, and technicians on project activities.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ related design/drafting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in engineering from ABET accredited college or university.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license
- English language skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical skills: ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred.
- Organizational skills: ability to prioritize and organize tasks; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Remote connectivity device (e.g., smart phone, tablet, etc.) with data plan sufficient for company requirements, including multi-factor authentication, time and mileage tracking, expense reimbursement, e-mail, and virtual communications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
- Ability to sit up to eight hours per day.
- Ability to stand and/or walk, including over uneven surfaces, for extended periods of time.
- Ability to manipulate computer mouse up to eight hours per day.
- Ability to see clearly 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
- Moderate noise.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Fixed schedule of 40 hours per week between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, including required core hours.
- Occasional extended hours required as projects dictate.
- Eligible to submit application for telecommuting after 90 days.
