POSITION SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will provide mid-level engineering technician support for Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) programs at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division. Support test and evaluation operations, design analysis activities, and technical data processing for critical Navy mine countermeasure platforms, including Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs) and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). Conduct standardized testing assignments, assemble test equipment, and maintain engineering records throughout the complete test lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, including preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating test equipment, recording test data, and identifying deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
  • Assemble and construct standard equipment or parts following specific instructions; service and repair instruments and equipment used in UMS testing operations.
  • Extract and compile engineering data from field notes, manuals, laboratory reports, and other sources; process data following well-defined methods, including elementary algebra and geometry.
  • Support Test and Evaluation (T&E) operations during testing phases, including test platform configuration and de-configuration; assist with test conduct, support, and evaluation of operational testing procedures.
  • Prepare test documentation, including test logs, data sheets, and technical reports; maintain accurate records of all testing activities and equipment performance observations.
  • Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify design defects and equipment malfunctions; assist engineers in determining corrections and improvements to UMS systems.
  • Support design analysis activities by compiling data related to specifications, materials, and equipment performance; gather information on operational failures and modifications.
  • Operate standard test equipment and instrumentation, including digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, and oscilloscopes, to support system testing.
  • Perform computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plot data and prepare simple curves, graphs, and charts for engineering analysis.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Technical education or equivalent experience in engineering technology, electronics, or related technical field
  • Experience performing standardized testing assignments following established procedures and methods
  • Ability to assemble, construct, service, and repair standard equipment and instruments
  • Knowledge of test equipment operation, including multi-meters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes
  • Experience extracting, compiling, and processing engineering data from various technical sources
  • Proficiency with basic algebra and geometry for data processing and analysis
  • Ability to prepare test specimens, adjust test equipment, and record accurate test data
  • Experience identifying equipment malfunctions and observational errors during testing operations
  • SECRET security clearance
  • U.S. citizen
