Qualifications:

  • Education Required:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the survivor/human services field.
  • Education Preferred: Master's degree in the survivor/human services field. 
  • Experience Required: Any relevant experience in the related field.
  • Experience Preferred: 3 years of experience working in the human services field with survivor services experience.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance required.  Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.

 

Position Specifics:

 

  • Typically reflecting a 32-hour work week.
  • Position Hours: Tuesday - Friday, typically 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with some required flexibility to meet the needs of the clients outside of these typical days/hours.
  • Full-time position.
  • Nonexempt hourly position.
  • $28.48 per hour estimated $47,388.44 per year.

  • Service Area: The position is located in Scott County, Iowa

 

Position Details:

 

The Advocate - Self-Sufficiency will assist survivors of all violent crimes in becoming self-sufficient. This position will focus on three major barriers survivors identify in becoming self-sufficient: obtaining employment, transportation barriers, and child care assistance. This position will provide advocacy, including but not limited to navigating and accessing community resources, providing economic empowerment advocacy, assistance with job skills, resume building, accessing child care, including providing child care and/or respite, safety planning, etc. This position will provide transportation for survivors to and from work, appointments, etc. This position will also assist survivors with service coordination and rapid re-housing services as needed. This position will assist the Supervisor of Sheltering and Housing in obtaining, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with key partners in the service area to accomplish the goals of this position, as well as assist in tracking emergency client assistance funds. This position will require experience in assisting individuals with budgeting and/or education regarding money management. This position requires reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance. These responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Supervisor of Sheltering & Housing. This position will need to have a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.
