Purpose: The VPD Education Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the overall health education and communication strategy for the Division of Immunization at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Division Director, this position will work closely with a broad range of leadership, staff, and partners to ensure effective education and communication with providers, parents, and the public. The person in this position is responsible for development and dissemination of content across a range of mediums, including the Division’s website, social media, press releases and broad public campaigns. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of division health education and communications strategy in alignment with bureau, administration, and department plans and priorities.
- Work closely with division and bureau staff, as well as internal and external partners, to identify opportunities for expanded community engagement in the development of health education plans and activities.
- Identify opportunities for alignment of communications strategy and activities across existing and potential partnerships.
- Review, develop, and design content for the Division website, assuring that materials are up to date and comply with State of Michigan accessibility standards.
- Promote consumer education through the development of information related to immunizations and vaccine preventable diseases for health care providers, parents, and the general public.
- Work with management to provide education and other relevant communications during outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases or other relevant emergencies and support division staffing, as needed.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Health Communications, Public Health, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience: Two or more years of professional experience with demonstrated increasing responsibility in public health, health education, communications, project management, or program evaluation preferred.
