Purpose of Position:

Assist with the management of the Village Health Services Department, direct and coordinate the activities within the village clinics and oversee the staffing needs in the Bering Straits Region; Act as a liaison to other departments within NSHC;   Direct assigned employees, demonstrating leadership by providing work direction, motivation, training, performance evaluation and corrective action.

Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values.  Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform leadership functions including assistance with the selection, scheduling, training, performance management and discipline of staff paying particular attention to the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment
  • Assist with the accountability and oversight of the department's budget; recommend changes, allocate resources and follow up as necessary
  • Establish, control, and monitor staff performance, work flow efficiency and make adjustments whenever necessary 
  • Establish a sound management structure for clinic activities and ensure that all clinics are staffed with capable individuals
  • Recommend changes in administrative policies to carry out objectives of Village Health Services more effectively;  Assist the Director in the short- and long-range planning function
  • Provide oversight to the Supervisor/Instructors in the development of goals, plans, and budgets for attaining Village Health Services' objectives
  • Act as a role model in maintaining a professional atmosphere
  • Perform other duties as assigned
