Summary/Objective
The Assistant Controller oversees and manages all project cost reporting as well as month-end and ad-hoc reports, and Compliance. They provide direction to the project accountants while playing a pivotal role in supporting the Controller and CFO.
Primary Responsibilities/Functions
- Trouble shooting for Spectrum within the Accounting Department
- Reviews state laws and regulations and reports to management findings (ie. Tax rates and exceptions to sales and use tax and other compliance matters)
- Review and remittance of sales tax, city tax, excise etc.
- Oversee and keep current all state and city licensing
- Prepare daily bank reconciliations for operating account
- General ledger account reconciliations as requested
- Manage and track client record with NCS for project deadlines and coordinate project lien rights with Project Manager and CFO for final shipment or last day worked on site
- Oversees project accounting including reconciliation of schedule of work-in-process
- Provides management reports including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and sales
- Supervises and supports project accountants
- Oversees OCIP and CCIP enrollment and reporting in connection with Payroll Accountant
- Manages contract review process and initial job setup within Spectrum.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience
- 5+ years of experience in “Construction Industry” for finance and accounting
- Must have strong computer skills with accounting systems
- High proficiency in Excel and ERP systems

- Professional Degree in Accounting

Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some of the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk into the shop/warehouse and may be exposed to shop conditions, ongoing construction, and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
The employee is required to have a clean workspace in the office. In an instance where the employee is working offsite, at home, at a hotel, etc., the employee is required to have a clean workspace for virtual meetings, internally or externally with clients, vendors, etc.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position (40 hours). Workdays are Monday through Friday, work times are dependent on department, projects, and supervisor’s request and approval.
