POSITION SUMMARY
As the President- Middle Tennessee, you are responsible for overseeing all phases of the Middle Tennessee Market, to include providing leadership, direction, public representation, and guidance of company operations, lending programs, other products and services. The President is responsible for development and maintenance of Commercial Loan and Small Business portfolios, with the goal of providing maximum profitability with minimum risk. You are accountable for coordination of individual deposit development activities and strategies that promote core deposit growth by attracting new business and building multiple relationships with existing customers. The President works regularly with Executive Management to report and discuss financial and operational results of the branch office.
This role is highly visible in the Bank and requires a high level of professionalism and self-awareness. In this role, you are required to be extremely flexible to meet the overall demands of the department and ultimately the Bank.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of banking experience preferred
- Five years of experience in successfully leading a team to a common goal preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a business plan to ensure the bank meets key goals in the key performance areas of loan growth, deposit growth, non-interest income growth, non-interest expense control and pre-tax profit attainment
- Develop and maintain key business relationships with local government officials, civic leaders, City Advisory Board members, business leaders, customers and prospects
- Effectively interface with bank personnel such as the bank Senior Credit Officer, Loan Administration Manager, Senior Retail Officer, members of Executive Management, the Executive and Director’s Loan Committee, and other officers and bank personnel, as well as represent the bank at various civic and business functions, serving in leadership capacities on civic and non-profit boards
- Gain and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the area economy, influential people, history and culture
- Manage the staff of employees by recommending staffing levels, selecting and training employees, establishing job responsibilities and performance standards, and managing staff performance consistent with bank policy and sound management practices
- Support and grow the commercial and small business banking business by actively prospecting for new business, leading and participating in the credit structuring, pricing and approval processes and supporting relationship managers whenever possible
- Manage expenses by monitoring the annual budget, approving budgeted expenditures, tracking and adjusting expenses where appropriate, and promoting fiscal responsibility among the staff
- Address and solve individual and systemic problems
- Serve on and/or lead various task force or groups as required
- Ensure applicable lending policies and procedures are followed and be responsible for adherence to applicable compliance regulations
- Be responsible for handling early detection and identification of past due accounts and responsible for credit quality of individual portfolios
- Maintain a working understanding of all financial products and services with a primary focus on commercial and small business relationships
- Increase deposit/loan base of local office based on bank management-established goals
- Proactively call on local customers to increase the level of financial products and services used by these customers
- Proactively promote and solicit new customers through in-person contacts, telephone calls and appreciation calls
- Ensure customer needs are met, that exceptional quality customer service is achieved, and that employees perform in an effective manner
- Manage a portfolio of larger and more sensitive loan relationships
- Provide supervision of lenders and all lending functions of the branch
- Regularly meet with officers and key staff to communicate policies and goals and delegate daily office responsibilities
- Support and promote the Bank vision, mission and core values, organizational structure, and policies and procedures
- Maintain and foster effective relationships with Board members, officers, employees, and members of the business and civic community
- Approve timecards and benefit time for direct reports ensuring proper coverage
- Conduct regularly scheduled bi-weekly one-on-ones with team
- Ensure job descriptions are current and reflect actual duties of position, to ensure skills, abilities and experience is appropriate for current/and or securing new employees
- Select appropriate team members whose differing strengths can be maximized to create a highly productive team
- Complete cross-training and development training with team members
- Provide effective employee onboarding, and ongoing training and development opportunities that reflect both the employee’s and the bank’s needs
- Develop clear guidelines, goals and timelines while working alongside your team toward a common purpose
- Establish an environment of continuous improvement
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback, to team members on a real-time and continual basis and via two-way communication
- Listen to feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
- Empower team members to improve their confidence, job knowledge and communication skills, and identify, discuss and relay employees’ interest in promotional and career development opportunities
- Maintain compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements
- Actively support the ongoing development of a culturally diverse workforce
- Complete other duties as assigned as determined by management to be reasonable and beneficial
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively with customers, Board Members, community members, vendors, management, and employees, both individually and in front of a group. Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential. Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time is common as is traveling to meet with customers, Board Members, community members, vendors, management, and employees in the Middle Tennessee Market. Must be able to accurately gather and process verbal and written information and properly prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity is needed for the frequent use of common, and mobile office equipment, such as computer terminals, calculators, copiers and telephones. Occasional out-of-town or overnight travel may be required.
