Duties
Serves as the Senior Health System Specialist responsible for Patient Administration (PAD) program management.,Responsible for strategic and operational planning, organizing, staffing, decision support, policy development, and carrying out major projects concerned with the analysis and evaluation of programs/organizational effectiveness.,Subject matter expert for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance program, performing evaluations of compliance within the Network.,Assists and provides advice to field on developing Privacy Impact Assessments, Privacy Act Statements, System of Records Notices, as well as how to manage and protect Personally Identifiable Information.,Serves as the subject matter expert on Health Information Management Systems and Service (HIMSS), providing oversight for all issues relating to the medical documentation/records administration and health information management and data quality.,Plans and assigns work to be accomplished, sets and adjusts short/mid/long term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assisting with operation and/or policy formation in a medical organization or network; ensuring compliance with governing regulations, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); AND reviewing legislation for impact to medical facility and patient care. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
