We are seeking a driven and strategic Experienced Advisor Recruiting and Development Vice President to lead and scale our national recruiting strategy for experienced financial advisors. They will be responsible for executing the firm's experienced advisor recruiting strategy at a national and regional level, growing capacity across all affiliation models. They will collaborate with senior leaders to align recruiting efforts with business objectives, leveraging data and market insights to attract and retain top talent.
The VP will identify, recruit, and support high-potential experienced advisors and teams, and through collaboration with other teams, guide them through a seamless transition into Thrivent. This position plays an important role in positioning Thrivent as a compelling destination for experienced professionals seeking to align with a purpose-based, values-driven firm.
This can be a remote position within the US.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attract, Recruit and Onboard Talent:
Execute the long-term strategy and process for attracting experienced advisor talent across the country. Work with channel leaders to understand the experienced advisor profile and practice needs.
Recruit, develop, and lead an experienced advisor recruiting organization. Hire experienced advisor recruiters with expertise across channels and establish clear roles for pipeline generation. Implement training, performance metrics, and continuous coaching to foster a high-performance culture.
Drive targeted growth strategies across multiple affiliation models (1099, W-2, RIA), tailoring value propositions and outreach efforts for each channel.
Execute a targeted sourcing strategy to build a strong recruiting pipeline of experienced advisors and teams across all affiliation models.
Conduct selection and discovery conversations, presenting Thrivent’s value proposition based on appropriate affiliation model to experienced advisors and teams.
Leverage personal centers of influence, professional networks, and external partners to build awareness and attract talent.
Ensure a seamless onboarding experience for experienced advisors in coordination with enterprise onboarding and transition teams.
Serve as a connector for experienced advisors as they integrate into Thrivent’s platform, tools, and culture.
Represent Thrivent at recruiting events, industry forums, and industry conferences.
Stay ahead of competitive trends and industry shifts to continuously refine our recruiting approach and advisor value proposition.
Engagement & Collaboration:
Collaborate with Thrivent’s local field leadership, existing practices, and internal stakeholders to understand capacity needs and experienced advisor profiles aligned to growth goals.
Partner with matrix support teams including Practice Management, Marketing, Engagement, Compliance, and Training that will support experienced advisors and teams’ success.
Stay informed of competitive trends and experienced advisor movement across the industry and provide feedback and education to internal teams; adjust messaging and recruiting tactics accordingly.
Influence the development and enhancement of the advisor value proposition through candidate and industry feedback and expectations through collaboration with internal stakeholders and Centers of Excellence.
Pipeline & Performance Management:
Maintain accurate tracking of candidates, activity, and pipeline movements within reporting systems.
Establish and monitor KPIs to drive performance, track pipeline progress, and inform data-driven decision-making and forecasting.
Contribute insights to support leadership’s forecasting and capacity planning efforts.
Performance in this role will be measured by the number of advisors and teams recruited, the volume of assets transitioned and retained, and the quality of the transition experience.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience in financial services, with demonstrated success in recruiting and developing experienced financial advisors and teams.
FINRA Series 7/66 required or obtained within 90 days
Knowledge of various affiliation models including independent (1099), W-2, and RIA structures.
Proven ability to source, engage, and onboard experienced advisor talent and teams.
Strong understanding of advisor practices, practice development, and financial planning delivery models.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels.
Strong organizational and CRM tracking skills; ability to manage multiple recruiting pipelines.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%, including evenings and overnight stays, as needed.
Clean compliance record and satisfactory background check.
