Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Principal, Practice Group Manager (PGM), Living for the US East region for the Architecture and Urbanism division of our Global Business Area - Places. The PGM reports to Business Unit Director. This position can be located in any Arcadis office in the Eastern US.
As the PGM, Living, you e a subject matter expert for the residential and hospitality practice regionally within the Global Architecture and Urbanism (GAU) Division and a focus on growth, design excellence, and operational efficiency ensuring collaboration, growth, and excellence in service delivery across the region while aligning the practice group goals with the overall organizational strategy.
Role accountabilities:
Implement the GAU Division strategy:
- Lead accountability for performance (utilization, billability, contribution, debtors etc.), service quality delivery within the practice group; develop and oversee the implementation of the strategy to ensure service quality delivery, service excellence and profitable growth within the practice group, to support the delivery of the line of business objectives.
- Collaborates with the other Practice Group Directors and Managers across all market focus areas to share information and lead coordination/collaboration activities services/solutions enterprise wide.
- Develop and implement the regional business strategy and ensure the team understand, and the role that they play in its achievement, through the continued development of the appropriate team culture and focus.
- Lead the identification and targeting of clients and opportunities to achieve profitable practice group growth.
- Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team of senior specialists by recruiting, setting objectives and reviewing performance to ensure staff are developed, driven and have the necessary skills to deliver the program objectives.
Strategic Leadership and Business Development:
- Develop and foster enduring relationships with clients in the region to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction to improve retention and deliver organic revenue growth.
- Drive the growth of the regional practice group identifying new markets, clients, and opportunities.
- Build strong regional relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and partners to expand the organization’s influence globally.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to promote the regional practice group’s services.
- Facilitate the sharing of knowledge, expertise, and resources across different regions to foster collaboration and innovation.
- Promote the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance the regional practice group’s capabilities.
- Demonstrate thought leadership and innovation through publications, speaking engagements, visible external leadership.
Build strong relationships and create successful teams:
- Coach and mentor studio managers and service managers to ensure all projects are set up for success and appropriate governance is adhered to, with the goal of improved client satisfaction.
- Direct the identification of talent in the practice group in both technical capability and sales and promote career development by directing individuals who are identified, to the appropriate development programs.
- Create a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, continuous learning and feedback with the regional practice group.
- Direct decisions on resource utilization within the regional practice group and maintain the integrity of the unit composition and pyramid management structure to enable resource optimization.
- Direct the identification and management of risk in service delivery and ensure compliance with governance processes in the regional practice group to lead to service excellence and client satisfaction.
- Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the practice group’s regional and national overlapping clients and the market to identify key trends and emerging opportunities.
- Develop relationships throughout Arcadis to foster cooperation and to maximize opportunities to cross-sell within the organization.
- Standardize processes, methodologies, and best practices across all regions to ensure consistency and quality.
- Monitor the performance of the practice group regionally, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to budgets.
- Coordinate with regional leaders to ensure alignment and seamless execution of initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or post-graduate qualification and/or fellowship in an appropriate professional institution.
- Registered Architect, or equivalent preferred.
- Deep expertise in the Living (Hospitality and Multi-family Residential) Sector with substantial experience (18 years or more) in a discipline, including 10+ years' experience in Architecture consultancy.
- Experience in regional business development.
- Strong skills in managing relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including executive management, clients, and partners.
- Experience managing business relationships at executive level while managing teams across geographies.
- Proficiency in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Experience in managing budgets and financial planning.
- Proven ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement them effectively.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple priorities.
- Awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $94,000 - $161,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
