The Highlands at Harbor Springs is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic, fast-paced team. This role offers a diverse and ever-changing work environment, where no two days are the same.
The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of The Highlands’ entire fleet, including:
Heavy equipment
Snow grooming equipment
Trucks and vehicles
Snowmobiles
Fabrication projects
Miscellaneous small engines

Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to)
Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and repairs on all fleet equipment.
Work both independently and collaboratively to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Utilize available resources, including service manuals, parts catalogs, and supply references, to support maintenance and repair operations.
Assist in maintaining a comprehensive record system that tracks service history, repairs, and maintenance needs for each vehicle.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Support clear and consistent communication with all departments regarding repair schedules and maintenance updates.
Provide and maintain personal tools necessary for performing job duties.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Certifications, Education, etc.)
Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive repair and/or professional mechanic training.
Strong working knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, axles, brakes, and electronics.
High school diploma or GED required.
State or other professional certifications are highly recommended.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Fabrication skills are a plus.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to work on a creeper for extended periods when performing under-vehicle repairs.
Must be able to stand for up to 3–4 hours at a time.
Work Environment
Typical shop environment with exposure to noise from air compressors, grinders, and other mechanical equipment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, year-round position
Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Hours may vary depending on workload and operational need
