NATURE OF WORK:

Responsible for all engraving duties for the VFW Store, including the design, layout, and processing of orders for name tags, plaques, medals, citations, and Life Member cards. Operates engraving equipment and ensures accuracy and quality in all personalized items.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, layout, and produce engraved items such as name tags, plaques, medals, citations, and Life Member cards using PC-based software and electronic engraving equipment.
• Verify order details for accuracy, including spelling and formatting, before engraving.
• Cross-check shipping tickets and confirm customer and membership information using internal software.
• Print and process legacy and online orders through software systems.
• Prioritize and manage multiple engraving tasks daily, including rush orders and high-priority requests from internal departments.
• Select appropriate materials and equipment for each job to ensure efficient processing and avoid errors or material waste.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on engraving machines and related equipment.
• Assemble engraved items and prepare them for shipment.
• Monitor and track engraving materials and supplies; notify the Warehouse Supervisor when reorders are needed in a timely manner.
• Support the Warehouse Supervisor with special projects as assigned.
• Crosstrain and serve as a backup for printing operations in the Supply & Logistics department.
• Participate in Annual physical inventory.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience in engraving or operating complex equipment preferred.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with CorelDRAW and PC-based systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and proofing ability for accuracy in names, dates, spelling, and layouts.
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and urgent requests.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a noisy warehouse environment for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily task flow efficiently.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

• Reports directly to the VFW Store Warehouse Supervisor.
• No supervisory duties.
• Makes day-to-day decisions regarding engraving layout and job prioritization.
• Operates and maintains engraving and printing equipment approximately 85% of the time; interacts with customers and internal staff about 15% of the time.
• Role has a significant financial impact by producing high-quality custom products that generate revenue for the VFW Store.
• Accuracy is critical due to the high cost and prestige of the awards produced.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Expected to work in a loud environment with heavy PC use; must be flexible during peak seasons and handle high volumes of work.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Timely and accurate completion of all engraving jobs.
• Maintenance and efficient operation of engraving equipment.
• Accurate execution of custom engraving tasks for VFW officials and VIPs.
• Coordination of materials and supplies to avoid delays in production.
• Provide reliable backup support for logistics printing tasks as needed.
• Help with shipping, receiving, picking of orders as time allows.
