Position Summary
The School of Community Studies is seeking an experienced and passionate Instructor to join our Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) program. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in assigned courses, applying effective teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, updating curriculum and rubrics, evaluating learner performance, and maintaining accurate academic records. The Instructor will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by supporting learners with academic and personal challenges, referring them to appropriate resources, and ensuring that accommodations are implemented as needed.
In this role, the Instructor will also contribute to the ongoing development of the ECED program by staying current with best practices, participating in curriculum reviews, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Active engagement in departmental and college events, industry advisory committees, and recruitment initiatives is encouraged. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, commitment to learner success, and a willingness to participate in applied research and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution is required, along with a minimum of three years’ experience teaching adult, senior high, or post-secondary learners. Valid AECEA (Association of Early Childhood Educators of Alberta) membership required.
Candidates should possess strong subject-matter expertise and a proven ability to facilitate learning for students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Proficiency in MS Office, Brightspace/D2L, and MS Teams is essential. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, experience with classroom management in various delivery formats, and demonstrated intercultural communication and conflict management skills.
