Sheltering Arms Institute is seeking an Assistive Technology Specialist Therapist to join the team.  In addition to the role as a therapist, the Assistive Technology Specialist demonstrates competence in analyzing the needs of patients, and in the selection, training, and procurement of appropriate assistive technology to meet the patient’s needs. Supervises team members that maintain and manage equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in assistive technology preferred.
  • Experience in an inpatient rehab setting preferred.

 

Education/Certifications

  • Graduate of an accredited physical or occupational therapy program required.
  • Virginia licensure to practice or eligibility and application for licensure by the Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy Board of the Virginia State Board of Health Professions required.
  • Healthcare professionals CPR certification required.
  • Assistive Technology professional certification preferred.
  • Seating and mobility specialist certification preferred.
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited physical therapy program or Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited occupational therapy program preferred.
