WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE
Success in this role requires a strong commitment to community-focused leadership and the ability to balance strategic direction with day-to-day operational oversight. The ideal candidate is a systems-thinker with a deep understanding of trauma-informed, family-centered practice and experience navigating public child welfare systems. Effective communication, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to foster trust with diverse teams and stakeholders are essential. The CUA Director is expected to be a visible and approachable leader – actively engaging with staff at all levels, supporting morale, and fostering an environment rooted in accountability and care. This includes attending team meetings, responding to emerging case issues, collaborating across departments, and making sure the organization remains aligned with best practices in child welfare.
