Collaborates with Pastoral Care Coordinator to provide spiritual and emotional counsel and support to patients, families and staff; and integrates this service within the whole therapeutic community through the coordination, planning and teaching of a cadre of clergy and laity. Practices within the scope of the Association of Professional Chaplain’s Code of Ethics. Supports the Patient’s Bill of Rights.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential
Responsibilities
Provides for direct pastoral care to patients through patient visits, family contact, patient care conferences and staff consultations.
Documents provision of services to patients according to established procedure.
Review Palliative Care patient list and general GFH patient list to determine who will cover patients on each floor regardless of faith traditions or spiritual beliefs
On-call as available for emergent pastoral care needs
Education/Accredited Programs
Ecclesiastical endorsement and/or ordination to ministry by an appropriate religious judicatory
Clinical Pastoral Education. Minimum 1 quarter; prefer 2 quarters
Pastoral or counseling experience, minimum of 1 year
Experience as a hospital chaplain, minimum 1 year; 3 years preferred
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; prefer master’s in religion, theology, divinity, or related education.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations
- Board Certified Chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains (preferred, not required)
Skills/Abilities
Assumes responsibility to maintain competency in professional pastoral care practice
Assumes responsibility for maintaining current knowledge related to age and developmental needs of the patient population severed, as well as skills to deliver pastoral care to that population.
Ability to communicate effectively on the most sensitive or complex issues; with the ability to graciously exit a patients room if the patient does not want a visit.
Ability to deal with diverse, spiritual, educational, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Computer skills to include: Microsoft Word, Excel and EPIC for charting

Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $23.05 to $34.58 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
