Job Overview
The Closing Manager is responsible for managing a team that schedules all loan settlements of the real estate division. Responsible for ensuring department is following determined workflow and is meeting service level or Quality Service Standard (QSS) agreements that have been identified. The Closing Manager has a complete understanding of the entire mortgage and home equity process. The primary function is to make sure all members are contacted promptly and files are scheduled to close within established QSS. The Manager is responsible for ensuring a positive member experience during the closing phase of the loan. The manager must know all regulatory documentation involved in loan closings and guide the team on loan closing compliance.
The closing manager plays a major role in meeting loan production demands and meeting our member QSS objectives. The Closing Manager participates as a team member dedicated to supporting the growth of real estate lending, providing the highest quality of customer service to internal and external customers while practicing the core values of Citadel Class Service.
Responsibilities
- Meet loan production goals for the real estate division
- Work with Sales Management and other Fulfillment Leaders (Servicing Manager, Underwriting Manager, Processing Manager) to determine scheduling needs and allocate work based on overall sales volume and pipeline. Team player approach with entire Real Estate Loan fulfillment team.
- Manage department to meet or exceed goals, objectives and standards in Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor team quality accuracy and efficiency through coaching and mentoring efforts. Focus on production and pull-through through the utilization of quality control and review loan files to ensure adherence to internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Ensure department is providing a high level of member service to internal and external customers.
- Train closers on all new and existing regulations pertaining to final loan package documentation
- Manage and coordinate all loan closings and loan documentation
- Review and audit loan closing packages for completion and compliance with Federal and State laws to comply with RESPA/TILA Requirements
- Responsible for overall coordination of loan closings with the branches and title companies.
- Correspond with all involved in the loan closing including and especially Title Companies to obtain outstanding closing documentation.
- Develop ways to improve the overall efficiency of the Quality Control function.
- Responsible for ensuring all loan underwriting and secondary marketing closing conditions are met
- Anticipate and manage changes in the closing process to stay in line with digital closings and other technological changes. Stay informed on current and upcoming trends in mortgage lending and other factors affecting mortgage.
- Manage direct reports including Closing Coordinators, Scheduling, and Closing team members.
- Perform HR related tasks for the closing area such as coaching and evaluation and training needs. Actively on-board train and coach new hires.
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Understanding of Mortgage lending and the origination process. Knowledge of Fannie Mae, PMI and Credit Union lending guidelines. Knowledge of RESPA/TILA/TRID regulations and Audits/Changed Circumstances
- Five years’ experience in processing/closing or underwriting preferred
- Equivalent to a high school education; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- MS Office; Encompass experience preferred
