Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a Technology Paraeducator at Austin High School
The Technology Paraeducator will be stationed in the Media Center. Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Building Principal and in collaboration with the District Library Media Specialist and Technology Services, the Technology Paraeducator supports students and staff by providing technical assistance, managing digital resources, and maintaining a technology-rich media center environment. This role bridges instructional technology and library services to enhance digital literacy and learning.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with educational technology platforms (Microsoft Workspace, Destiny Library Manager, etc.)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot basic tech issues and explain solutions clearly
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Technology Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide first-level technical support for student and staff devices (Chromebooks, iPads, laptops).
- Assist with device distribution, collection, and inventory management.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues and escalate complex problems to Tech Services.
- Submit and track tech tickets for repairs and replacements.
- Support students in accessing digital tools, platforms, and online learning resources.
2. Media Center Operations
- Assist in daily media center functions, including circulation, shelving, and maintaining an organized, welcoming space.
- Support students and staff in locating and using digital and print resources.
- Collaborate with the Library Media Specialist to promote digital citizenship and information literacy.
3. Device and Resource Management
- Manage the circulation of student devices and accessories.
- Monitor and report lost, damaged, or stolen devices; guide students through proper reporting procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of technology inventory and usage.
- Coordinate with Tech Services to ensure timely repairs and updates.
4. Instructional and Staff Support
- Assist teachers with integrating technology into instruction and accessing digital resources.
- Provide support for classroom technology needs, including audiovisual equipment and software tools.
- Help students develop independent research and digital literacy skills.
5. Student Supervision and Engagement
- Supervise students in the media center and Tech Café, promoting responsible technology use.
- Train and guide student assistants in tech-related tasks and library operations.
- Support school-wide digital learning initiatives and events.
6. Professional Collaboration and Development
- Participate in training sessions and meetings with Tech Services and Library Media staff.
- Stay current with district technology tools, policies, and best practices.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in digital learning environments.

Salary/Benefits: Hourly starting rate of pay is $19.35 per hour. Other benefits according to the Para Educator Working Agreement are located within the Human Resource section of the Austin Public Schools website at www.austin.k12.mn.us.
